Eiffel Academy Curriculum
Eiffel Academy’s curriculum merges the French Ministry’s curriculum with critical Florida State curriculum.
We offer the only trilingual elementary and middle school in the Tampa Bay Area and the only school providing french immersion alongside U.S. educational standards. Eiffel students maintain academic levels that allow them to easily integrate into a U.S. school or French school at any time during their education.
Our French Foundation
Gustave Eiffel Academy relies upon the French Ministry of Education’s Common Base
The foundation of our curriculum is the French Ministry’s common foundation of knowledge, skills and culture. The five training ares of the common base bring together all the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes needed to succeed in school, as an individual and as a future citizen. Students acquire this common foundation over three cycles, during first grade to ninth grade.
At the conclusion of the final cycle, students may test to obtain le diplôme national du brevet (DNB), which serves as an official certification of their knowledge.
Division of Learning
-
Every student takes literature courses in both French and English while continuing their studies in grammar, writing, and reading comprehension just like any other student in a French or American school.
English literature is taught in English by an Anglophone instructor, while French literature is taught in French by a Francophone teacher.
As they are introduced to significant authors from both cultures throughout the centuries, from Ionesco to Molière, Shakespeare to Morrison, students thrive in a cross-cultural learning environment.
Whenever possible, projects mixing the two languages will be implemented.
-
At Eiffel Academy, students will take history and geography in English and in French, with a focus on global studies. The French Ministry of Education curriculum + the Florida standards are both taught.
This allows students to analyze different points of view on civilizations and world geography. The goals are a better understanding of the complexity of economic, social, political, and cultural structures.
Developing skills in critical thinking and debate is vital to help our students grasp the major issues facing our interconnected, pluricultural world.
-
Our math program is tailored to the students in our school. It brings together the best of both curricula. We add in-depth knowledge of geometry from the French program to the emphasis on algebra in the American program. The different systems of measurement units are worked on. Complex problem solving is regularly proposed.
This subject is taught translingually as both French and English are used during the learning process.
Students take computer science each year. The program covers technical aspects such as programming, coding, and modeling, as well as digital citizenship and technology ethics.
-
In science, which includes a study of the scientific method, at each grade level students take a yearlong class that covers biology, chemistry, earth science and physics. The program is based on the Florida standards and is studied in both English and French.
Field trips will be proposed to promote hands-on, experiential learning.
-
Our 3-hour Spanish program aims to provide students with a solid foundation in the Spanish language, as well as an appreciation of Spanish-speaking culture.
We aim to develop students' language skills in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
We also encourage students to develop their intercultural awareness by exploring the cultural diversity of Spanish-speaking countries.
-
Visual arts play an integral part in the program throughout Middle School. Students take 2 hours of visual arts classes per week. Their course of study includes art history and development of technical skills in drawing, painting and sculpture.
The arts program is based on the French curriculum.
-
In music, students explore music appreciation, composition and even basic theory.
The program is based on the French curriculum.
One of the goals of our school is to create a music band as soon as the conditions are met.

The French curriculum values physical and sports education at the same level as other academic subjects. Through the study of physical education, students develop coordination, resilience, and the refinement of motor skills. They also learn the fundamentals and rules of many sports and learn to collaborate with teammates and compete fairly
Physical education is integral to the well being of every student and is a vital part of our school's curriculum.
